Researchers at the University of Alabama reported tracing the source of HIV to a type of chimpanzee in west central Africa.  

France acquitted former Prime Minister Laurent Fabius and two Cabinet ministers who served under him on charges of manslaughter and criminal negligence stemming from the HIV-tainted blood scandal of the 1980s.
